Introduction to Money

In math, money can is the medium of exchange such as notes and coins, used to pay for commodities and services. The Indian Rupee(currency symbol ₹) is the national currency of India and all transactions are done using the country’s system of money i.e. currency. Money is something that we all interact with in some way on a daily basis and we end up falling back on our math skills to handle that money reliably.

Money math practice sharpens minds and fattens wallets. Money as a math topic is introduced to children to expose them to the ideas such as denominations, currency conversion, operations using money (the most important of all). This track eventually leads up to commercial math. In commercial math, children earn related concepts like simple interest, compound interest, and profit and loss.

At Cuemath the introduction of this topic begins by exposing the children to the different denominations in our currency system. This concept is best taught by the use of play money. Children can learn and have fun at the same time. Being able to transact artificially is both fun and engaging.
