The Math Of Concepts

Cuemath uses workbooks, often along with the Math box as an aid, to develop a deep and sustainable understanding of concepts.

These workbooks, different from regular school math books, allow a child to build on his/her existing knowledge through active learning (“learn-by-doing”).

Let’s explore how our learning methodology is different from that followed by regular school math books. Here are some examples:

A child uses concrete objects from the Math box to learn that fractions are quantities which are parts of wholes.

Then, the child moves to the pictorial stage where they use the workbooks to see representations of fractions as partially shaded figures.

The child is now able to understand how fractions are written and uses this knowledge to solve a given problem.

2. Here is how a child is introduced to variables and constants in Algebra.

A child uses concrete shapes from the Math box to observe a specific pattern.

Then, the child looks at the pictorial representation of the pattern in the workbook and identifies the variables and constants.

The child is now able to use variables and constants to form algebraic expressions.
