Read the Story on Pinocchio with Beautiful Illustrations

Once upon a time, there lived an old man by the name of Geppetto. He was a carpenter who had no family. Since he was so lonely, he thought of making a puppet out of wood. He thought of naming him "Pinocchio.” He started to work on it and worked very hard. When it was complete, he said to himself, "I wish Pinocchio were a real boy." A fairy heard this wish, and she made up her mind to grant it as well, but, on one condition, Pinocchio must become a good and honest boy.

When Geppetto woke up the next morning, he was pleased to see Pinocchio talk. He adored his new son very much and decided to send him to the school, just like the rest of the kids. When he went to school, he noticed that his classmates had bodies not carved out of wood and that he was not like the rest. He ended up not liking the school and started making excuses even for petty things. Every time he lied, his nose grew longer and longer.

While trying to hide from his teacher, Pinocchio got stuck in a box one day. "Someone, please help me!" he kept on shouting. No one but the fairy came. She asked him why he was hiding, but Pinocchio lied again. The fairy decided to give one more chance to him and hence set him free. As he came out of the toy box, the teacher asked, "Why did you hide?" He answered that he didn't like being different. The teacher smiled and said, "We are all different. That is what makes the world an interesting place to live." Pinocchio realized that it wasn't so bad being different. He started to play with the other children.

He went home and told Geppetto about his new friends at school. The fairy saw the change in his behaviour and decided to make him a real boy.

Moral of the Story: Honesty is the best policy.
