An Overview of Grade 5 Online Math Classes Curriculum

You will understand the place value system and learn to write whole numbers using exponents. Learn to multiply multi-digit whole numbers, divide 4-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers, and order of operations. Learn to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions as well as decimals. Understand percentages and their relation with fractions, compare percentages, and solve problems on them. The online math classes will help you understand the unitary method and apply it using multiplication and division. Solve word problems related to mensuration: perimeter, area, and volume. Classify triangles and quadrilaterals using their properties. Learn about coordinate geometry. Understand factors and multiples, prime numbers and prime factorization, and LCM and GCF. Why is Grade 5 important in math learning?

Mensuration is an important topic in this grade as students gradually understand the concept of volume and surface area of solid shapes after understanding perimeter and area in the previous grade. Traditionally, these concepts are taught using standard formulas. However, in Cuemath, we help them understand concepts of volume by visualizing how unit cubes can be put together to occupy a solid shape, through an exploratory simulation. Similarly, we introduce the idea of surface area. With visual approaches, students not only find the concepts interesting, but they never forget the formulas too.
