AP Calculus from a Geometry Start: Isabel Graduated with Highest Honors

Some of Isabel's tutoring sessions covered just one or two problems in an hour, and that was the method, not the problem. Three years later she graduated with Highest Honors, National Honor Society membership, and AP Calculus behind her.

There were hours with her Cuemath tutor when Isabel worked through exactly two problems. Neither of them treated that as a wasted session, and the results explain why.

This year Isabel graduated with Highest Honors and membership in the National Honor Society, with AP Calculus AB completed in her final year. She reached that finish across nearly three years of online math tutoring with Deepak Mavani, on a road that started in Geometry.

Those three years were not smooth. High school math got harder each year, from Geometry through to calculus, and some weeks it showed. A test now and then came back below what she wanted. A single problem could hold an entire hour. What did not change was what she did next: she came back to the next session in good spirits and asked questions until the idea was actually hers. Isabel needed to think out loud, to test her ideas before committing to them, and Deepak let the sessions run at the pace that kind of thinking needs.

The other half of the work happened after class. She practiced on her own after every session, and whatever did not hold, she brought straight back. No hesitation, no pretending a topic was fine when it was not. Her tutor read that habit for what it was, not stubbornness but a steady belief that the understanding would come if she stayed with it. Session by session, from Geometry to Algebra to calculus, it did.

Isabel was never in a hurry, and she did not need to be. She made sure she understood each topic fully before she moved to the next one, and that habit is what made her MathFit when calculus arrived.
