Secret Squares

1v1Grades K–12

Find four dots that make a square — before your rival does.

About the Game

An 8×8 grid of dots sits between two players. The rule: find four dots that form a true square — including squares tilted at an angle, not just ones lined up with the grid — before your opponent does. Played live, best of three rounds.

What Your Child Practices

Fluency

Quickly judging distances and right angles between grid dots.

Understanding

That a square can be rotated relative to the grid and still be a true square, with equal sides and right angles.

Application

The same find-the-square task repeats across a dense 8×8 field with many candidate shapes.

Reasoning

Ruling out square-like shapes — rhombuses, trapezoids — that fail the strict definition of a square.
