Going Beyond Good at Math: Aaishi’s Perfect 5 on AP Precalculus

Aaishi's parents were not looking to fix a problem. She was already doing well in math, and they wanted to know how much further that could go. In 10th grade she scored a perfect 5 on AP Precalculus, working with her Cuemath tutor Divya Srivastava.

Her report card was already good. So when Aaishi's parents went looking for a math tutor, it was not because something was missing.

They wanted to know what she could do if she was pushed further.

They got their answer when Aaishi, a 10th grader in the US, scored a perfect 5 on the AP Precalculus exam. Divya Srivastava, her Cuemath tutor, worked with her through weekly online math tutoring sessions and helped her turn her natural curiosity into deeper mathematical thinking, one question at a time.

Aaishi was already a strong math student. She understood the material, kept up with her schoolwork, and earned good grades. But she rarely stopped at getting the right answer. She wanted to understand why a formula worked, where a rule came from, and what would happen if something changed.

That curiosity became the starting point for her work with Divya.

Divya did not simply answer Aaishi's questions. She used them as a starting point for deeper, more challenging problems.

A question about one concept could lead to a new problem. Understanding a formula could lead to exploring why it worked. Once Aaishi was comfortable with an idea, Divya would push her to apply it in an unfamiliar situation.

Over time, Aaishi became more confident tackling problems without relying on a familiar formula or worked example. She was learning to reason her way through the problem.

That became especially important when she took on AP Precalculus. It is an advanced high school math course from the College Board that focuses on functions, modeling, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. The AP exam is scored from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest possible score.

Aaishi earned that 5 in 10th grade, giving her two more years of high school to build on that foundation before moving into even more advanced math.

Aaishi's perfect score was the result of more than knowing the material. It came from a habit she had built along the way: staying with a problem until she understood it, asking questions when something did not make sense, and being willing to try a harder approach.

For Aaishi, that mindset has already taken her to the highest possible score on the AP Precalculus exam. With calculus and other advanced math ahead, she has plenty more questions to ask.
