AP Precalculus 5/5 in 10th Grade: Dev's Six-Year Foundation Paid Off

Six years into Cuemath, Dev got a new tutor just as Precalculus began. One year later he scored a perfect 5 on the AP Precalculus exam, with Sangeetha Somasundaram raising the difficulty step by step.

Six years into Cuemath, just as Precalculus began, Dev was moved to a new tutor. A switch like that can unsettle a routine that works. This one did not.

The result says as much. Dev, a Grade 10 student in the US, scored a perfect 5 out of 5 on the AP Precalculus exam. By then he had six years of online math tutoring with Cuemath behind him, and Sangeetha Somasundaram, the tutor who took over for Precalculus, made her first course with him a perfect one.

That base was built patiently, year over year, since elementary school. Still, Precalculus asked a fair question. The course runs at a college level, the first big jump on the AP math track, and it arrived together with a brand-new tutor. She kept raising the level, and Dev kept meeting it. On the 2026 exam, about 300,000 students sat for AP Precalculus, and 29 percent of them earned the top score of 5. The course covers polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, the machinery every calculus class is built on. Dev cleared it as a sophomore. Calculus comes next, and Cuemath students have handled that step well too: Mahnya scored a perfect 5 on AP Calculus AB in 10th grade this year.
