Paavni Went From Silent In Class To Four A's In Year 4

Paavni Lal joined Cuemath in Year 4 and barely spoke in her first classes. In June her school gave her its Excellence in Effort Award, which certifies an 'A' in maths along with three other subjects. Her Cuemath tutor Neha Bhasin has taught her since she joined.

In her first classes, Paavni hardly spoke. She was a shy Year 4 who would not say much. Neha Bhasin, her tutor, gave it time. Paavni opened up slowly, and the child who once stayed quiet is now one who wants to be good at maths. Neha has taught her since she joined Cuemath in January 2026, through weekly online math tutoring.

Meet Paavni

  • Year: 4
  • Country: Australia
  • Tutor: Neha Bhasin
  • With Cuemath since: January 2026
  • School award, 26 June 2026: Excellence in Effort Award
  • What the award certifies: an 'A' level of achievement in English, Maths, Science and HASS, and at least a 'B' in every other learning area

What The Effort Award Actually Recognises

The name sounds like a prize for turning up. Paavni's is earned on grades. Her school gives it for an A-level of achievement in maths, alongside English, Science and HASS, with at least a B in every other area. Her principal signed it on 26 June 2026.

Maths Is One Of Her Four A's

Maths is one of the subjects the award marks at A-level. That is the part Cuemath teaches. The rest is her school's work, and her own.

Neha Points To The Practice Sheets

Asked what helped, Neha, Paavni's Cuemath tutor, points to the practice sheets that were worked on steadily week after week. The confidence followed the practice. The award came in June, the same year Paavni joined.

"Paavni joined me in January and has been with me since. In the beginning she was a shy child and would not talk much. But slowly she opened up, and now I see her transforming into a confident girl who wants to excel in maths. Practice sheets helped her."

~ NEHA BHASIN, CUEMATH TUTOR

"Paavni has improved a lot in her understanding of maths problems after joining Cuemath. The tutor has really done an excellent job in helping her with her mathematics skills, and I really appreciate her commendable work for my daughter."

~ PRAVEENA, PAAVNI'S MOTHER

Leaning Into Maths, Not Away From It, Is What Being MathFit Looks Like

The change Neha sees is not really about marks. A shy child who once said little now leans into maths and wants to get good at it. That shift, from holding back to putting her hand up, is what being MathFit looks like.
