Dhruva had always been interested in maths. What he hadn’t found yet was the confidence to show it, gradually learning to express his thoughts more freely through weekly online math tutoring with our Cuemath Tutor. By Term 3, his school had given him two Fielder Awards, back to back, for confidence and speaking up in class.

Meet Dhruva

  • Year: 3
  • Country: Australia
  • School: Berwick Fields Primary School, Melbourne
  • Tutor: Prachi Saiya
  • With Cuemath since: February 2025
  • Recognition: Two Fielder Awards, Term 3, for confidence and class participation

Two Fielder Awards in Term 3

Berwick Fields Primary School gives Fielder Awards to recognise a student’s attitude and participation in class, not their test scores. By Term 3, Dhruva had earned two of these awards. His teacher’s notes credited him for his "positive attitude, determination and willingness to participate in class discussion".

His parents have seen the same shift show up at school. Berwick Fields uses a lot of game-based maths in class, which Dhruva enjoys and is quick to join in with. His understanding of different concepts has grown since joining Cuemath, and he now enjoys a challenge instead of avoiding one.

"Dhruva has changed so much. He came in as a shy boy who barely spoke, and now he’s a talkative, confident kid who tells me everything. The moment he starts a worksheet, he’s fully into it, and he understands the concepts well. He’s never once told me no. I always look forward to his classes."

A Learning Plan Built With Prachi

Prachi planned to move beyond the textbook: applying maths to real situations instead of just problems on a page. Working through worksheets at his own pace, Dhruva began paying closer attention and slowly started seeing maths in a better approach.

Prachi Saiya has been Dhruva’s Cuemath tutor since he joined, guiding him through weekly 1:1 sessions built around his own pace.

"Dhruva has always had a natural interest in Mathematics, but his journey with Cuemath has helped him develop his skills and confidence tremendously. His teacher has been very impressed with his mathematical ability, confidence and active participation in class. We are extremely proud of Dhruva’s progress and grateful to Cuemath and Prachi Ma’am."

Being MathFit Means Keeping That Confidence

Cuemath calls this being MathFit, simply, a child who builds maths skill and maths confidence at the same time. For Dhruva, that has looked like a boy who used to sit quietly now speaking up, both in class and with his tutor. Prachi already sees where this goes: a boy who’ll stay grounded to his roots, whatever he ends up doing.

He is not the only one. Paavni went from barely speaking to winning her school’s top effort award by Year 4, and Arnav’s tutor saw his questions finally come out loud instead of staying unsaid. Different schools, same shift: a child who stops hiding what they don’t yet understand.
