A table top is semicircular in shape with diameter 2.8 m. Area of this table top is
(a) 3.08 m²
(b) 6.16 m²
(c) 12.32 m²
(d) 24.64 m²
Solution:
Given, a table top is semicircular in shape
The diameter of semicircle is 2.8 m
We have to find the area of the table top.
Area of semicircle = πr²/2
Where, r is the radius of circle
Radius = 2.8/2 = 1.4 cm
Area of table top = [22/7 × (1.4)²]/2
= [22(1.96)/7] / 2
= [43.12/7] / 2
= 6.16/2
= 3.08 m²
Therefore, the area of the table top is 3.08 m²
✦ Try This: Area of semicircle with radius 7 cm is
Given, radius of semicircle is 7 cm
We have to find area of semicircle
Area of semicircle = πr²/2
Where, r is the radius of circle
= [22/7 × (7)²]/2
= [22(49)/7] / 2
= [22(7)] / 2
= 154/2
= 77 cm²
Therefore, area of semicircle is 77 cm²
