# If f (x) = x^{2}, find [f (1.1) - f (1)] / (1.1 - 1)

**Solution:**

It is given that

f (x) = x^{2}

⇒ f(1.1) = (1.1)^{2} and f (1) = 1^{2}

Hence substituting the above values, we get

⇒[f (1.1) - f (1)] / (1.1 - 1)

= [(1.1)^{2} - (1)^{2}] / (1.1 - 1)

= (1.21 - 1) / 0.1

= 0.21 / 0.1

[f (1.1) - f (1)] / (1.1 - 1) = 2.1

NCERT Solutions Class 11 Maths Chapter 2 Exercise ME Question 2

## If f (x) = x^{2}, find [f (1.1) - f (1)] / (1.1 - 1)

**Summary:**

A relation f (x) = x^{2} is given. We have found that the value of [f (1.1) - f (1)] / (1.1 - 1) comes out to be 2.1.
