It is given that

f (x) = x^{2}

⇒ f(1.1) = (1.1)^{2} and f (1) = 1^{2}

Hence substituting the above values, we get

= [(1.1)^{2} - (1)^{2}] / (1.1 - 1)

= (1.21 - 1) / 0.1

= 0.21 / 0.1
