If (x/3 + 1, y - 2/3) = (5/3, 1/3), find the values of x and y
Solution:
It is given that (x/3 + 1, y - 2/3) = (5/3, 1/3)
Since the two ordered pairs are equal, the corresponding elements will also be equal
Therefore,
x/3 + 1 = 5/3 and y - 2/3 = 1/3
x/3 + 1 = 5/3 and y - 2/3 = 1/3
⇒ x/3 = 5/3 - 1 and ⇒ y = 1/3 + 2/3
⇒ x/3 = 2/3 and ⇒ y = 1
⇒ x = 2
Hence,
x = 2, y = 1
NCERT Solutions Class 11 Maths Chapter 2 Exercise 2.1 Question 1
