# Ishika has designed a small oval race track for her remote control car. Her design is shown in the figure 9.55. What is the total distance around the track? Round your answer to the nearest whole cm.

**Solution:**

We know that

Total distance around the track = Length of two parallel strips + Length of two semi circles

Given

__Radius__ r = 16 cm

Substituting the values

= (2 × 52) + (2 × π × 16)

By further calculation

= 104 + (2 × 3.14 × 16)

So we get

= 104 + 100.5009

= 205 cm

Therefore, the total distance around the track is 205 cm.
