Solve the following equation: 4x + 6/y = 15. 6x - 8/y = 14, y ≠ 0
Solution:
From the above question, we have the linear equations as,
4x + 6/y = 15.--------------------(1)
6x - 8/y = 14.---------------------(2)
Consider u = 1/y,
Rearranging the above equation, we get,
4x + 6u = 15----------------------------(3)
6x - 8u = 14----------------------(4)
Multiplying (3) by 8 and (4) by 6 and Adding, we get,
68x = 204
x = 3.
Substituting the value of x in(3),we get,
4x3 + 6u = 15
6u = 15 - 12
6u = 3
u = 1/2 = 1/y = 1/2
y = 2.
x = 3.
y = 2.
Therefore, the values of x and y are 3 and 2, respectively
