Measures (in degrees) of two complementary angles are two consecutive even integers. Find the angles.
Solution:
Given, measures of two complementary angles are two consecutive even integers.
We have to find the angles.
Let the two consecutive angles be x and x+2.
When the sum of the measures of two angles is 90°, the angles are called complementary angles.
So, x + x + 2 = 90°
2x + 2 = 90°
2x = 90° - 2
2x = 88°
x = 88°/2
x = 44°
Now, x + 2 = 44 + 2 = 46°
Therefore, the angles are 44° and 46°.
