# If 5 A + 25 is equal to B 2, then the value of A + B is

(a) 15

(b) 10

(c) 8

(d) 7

**Solution:**

If 5A + 25 = B2 means that A = 7

If A = 7 then 5 + 7 = 12

The digit 1 carries over to ten’s place and hence B = 8

Therefore A + B = 7 + 8 = 15

The answer is (a)

**✦ Try This:** If 4A + 34 = B3, Then the value of A + B is (a) 16, (b) 19, (c) 15 , (d) 17

If A = 9 then 9 + 4 = 13

The digit 1 carries over to ten’s place and hence B = 8

Therefore A + B = 9 + 8 = 17

The answer is (d)
