If AB × B = 9B, then A = _________, B = _________.
Solution:
If AB × B = 9B then B can be 1 or 6.
If B = 1 then A = 9 because 91 × 1 = 91
However there is another possibility and that is
If B = 6 and A = 1 then we have 16 × 6 = 96
Hence
If AB × B = 9B, then A = 1 or 9, B = 6 or 1 respectively
✦ Try This: If AB × B = 7B, then A = _________, B = _________.
B can take the value of 5 or 6.
But if B = 6 then 76 is not possible
However if B = 5 then 75 is possible because 15 × 5 = 75
Hence A = 1 and B = 5
