# p^{2}q + q^{2}r + r^{2}q is a binomial. Is the given statement true or false

**Solution: **

The statement ‘p^{2}q + q^{2}r + r^{2}q’ is a binomial is false.

An algebraic expression which consists of two non-zero terms is called a binomial.

Given the equation, p^{2}q + q^{2}r + r^{2}q has three non-zero terms.

∴ The given polynomial having three terms, is trinomial not a binomial.

**✦ Try This: **Name the following polynomials as monomial, binomial and trinomial (i) 4x^{2 }+ 3y^{2}, (ii) xy^{2 }+ xy + y, (iii) 2xy

(i) 4x^{2 }+ 3y^{2} → given polynomial is a binomial as it has two non-zero terms.

(ii) xy^{2 }+ xy + y → given polynomial is a trinomial as it has three non-zero terms.

(iii) 2xy → given polynomial is a monomial it has one non zero term.
