_{0} - Frequency of class succeeding the modal class, f
_{2}

From the table, it can be observed that the maximum class frequency is 18, belonging to class interval 4000 − 5000

Therefore, modal class = 4000 − 5000

Class size, h = 1000

Lower limit of modal class, l = 4000

Frequency of modal class, f_{1} = 18

Frequency of class preceding modal class, f_{0} = 4

Frequency of class succeeding the modal class, f_{2} = 9

Mode = l + (f_{1} - f_{0})/(2f_{1} - f_{0} - f_{2}) × h

= 4000 + [(18 - 4)/(2 × 18 - 4 - 9) × 1000
