A coin is tossed twice, what is the probability that at least one tail occurs?
Solution:
When a coin is tossed twice, the sample space is given by
S = {HH, HT, TH, TT}; n (S) = 4
Let A be the event of the occurrence of the least one tail.
Accordingly, A = {HH, HT, TH, TT}; n (A) = 3
Therefore, the required probability is,
P(A) = n (A)/n (S)
= 3/4
