How to Find the Volume Of a Cylinder? 

The volume of a cylinder is the capacity of the cylinder or the measure of the amount of space it occupies. It is calculated with the help of the formula, πr2h, where r is the radius of the circular base, h is the height of the cylinder and π(Pi) is a mathematical constant with an approximate value of 3.14. The values of the radius and height are placed in the formula to get the volume of the cylinder.

Solved Example:

A cylinder has a radius of 3 units and a height of 5 units. Find the volume of the cylinder.

Solution:

The formula used to find the volume of a cylinder =  πr2h. The radius = 3 units, height = 5 units. So, we will substitute the values:

Volume of a cylinder = πr2h

= 3.14 × 3 × 3 × 5

= 141.3 units\(^3\)

∴ Volume of the cylinder = 141.3 units\(^3\)
