Match column I to column II in the following
Column I Column II
(i) 3/4 ÷ 3/4 (a) -1
(ii) 1/2 ÷ 4/3 (b) -2/3
(iii) 2/3 ÷ (-1) (c) 3/2
(iv) 3/4 ÷ 1/2 (d) 3/8
(v) 5/7 ÷ (-5/7) (e) 1
Solution:
We have to match column I to column II
Considering (3/4) ÷ (3/4),
(3/4) ÷ (3/4) = (3 × 4)/(3 × 4)
= 1
Considering (1/2) ÷ (4/3),
(1/2) ÷ (4/3) = (1 × 3)/(2 × 4)
= 3/8
Considering (2/3) ÷ (-1),
(2/3) ÷ (-1) = (2 × (-1))/3
= -2/3
Considering (3/4) ÷ (1/2),
(3/4) ÷ (1/2) = (3 × 2)/(4 × 1)
= 6/4
= 3/2
Considering (5/7) ÷ (-5/7),
(5/7) ÷ (-5/7) = (5 × 7)/((-5) × 7)
= 1/(-1)
= -1
From the given data,
(3/4) ÷ (3/4) = 1
(1/2) ÷ (4/3) = 3/8
(2/3) ÷ (-1) = -2/3
(3/4) ÷ (1/2) = 3/2
(5/7) ÷ (-5/7) = -1
