What is Frequency Distribution in Statistics?
A frequency distribution is represented in many different ways like a table or a graph.
Answer: Frequency distribution in statistics is a graph or a set of data that is organized to show the frequency of occurrence of each outcome of any event which is repeated a number of times.
The frequency distribution is the distribution of the frequency of a particular outcome of an event.
For example, if we roll a dice 10 times and get 4 times number 2, 3 times number five and twice number 6 and once number 3
Then the frequency distribution of the outcomes would be :
Number 1, frequency = 0
Number 2, frequency = 4
Number 3, frequency = 1
Number 4, frequency = 0
Number 5, frequency = 3
Number 6, frequency = 2
This can be represented in the table shown below
Number on the Die | Frequency |
1 | 0 |
2 | 4 |
3 | 1 |
4 | 0 |
5 | 3 |
6 | 2 |
Thus, Frequency distribution in statistics is a graph or a set of data that is organized to show the frequency of occurrence of each outcome of any event which can be repeated a number of times.
