Convert to Ratios to Complete the Mission
Players read a fuel mixture shown as percentages, work out the simplest whole-number ratio, and key it in to launch the rocket. It’s the same way Cuemath tutors build ratio sense in live 1:1 classes.

About the game
Artemis Math Mission is a free online math game for Grade 6 students learning to write ratios in simplest form. A short tutorial introduces the fuel-ratio mechanic, then each round shows three fuel percentages and asks for the simplest whole-number ratio between them. Players type the ratio on a keypad, and a correct, fully simplified answer launches the rocket. Across 6 rounds, students build the habit of dividing every part of a ratio by their greatest common factor until no factor but 1 is left.
From the classroom
How Cuemath Tutors Use This Game
Tutors reach for this when a student can write a ratio like 25 : 25 : 50 but stops there, without checking whether it reduces further. The rocket only launches on the fully simplified ratio, so "close enough" isn’t an option — 1 : 1 : 2 flies, 5 : 5 : 10 doesn’t.
A common move in a session is to ask "what’s the largest number that divides all three parts?" before the student types anything. That turns simplifying from a guess into a deliberate step: find the greatest common factor, divide every part by it, and check that the numbers share no factor but 1.
Often paired with
Equivalent ratios before, unit rates and proportions after.
What students said
Students said the rocket launch made it obvious when a ratio wasn’t fully reduced — and several started simplifying in their head before typing, dividing all the numbers by the same factor until they couldn’t go further.

What Your Child Practices
Four dimensions from the Cuemath FUAR taxonomy — Fluency, Understanding, Application, Reasoning — applied to this game.
Fluency
Fluency with dividing every part of a ratio by a common factor to reduce it.
Understanding
Understanding that a ratio in simplest form names the same relationship as the percentages it came from — just with no shared factor left.
Application
Application of simplifying to whatever fuel mixture each round shows, across 6 rounds.
Reasoning
Reasoning about why 1 : 1 : 2 and 2 : 2 : 4 are the same ratio, even though only one is fully simplified.

We love solving doubts
What does it mean to write a ratio in simplest form?
Writing a ratio in simplest form means reducing it until its numbers share no common factor other than 1. To simplify a ratio like 25 : 25 : 50, you find the greatest common factor of all the parts (here, 25) and divide each part by it, which gives 1 : 1 : 2. The simplest form names the same relationship between the quantities, just with the smallest whole numbers possible.
Why is the greatest common factor important for simplifying ratios?
The greatest common factor (GCF) is what lets you reduce a ratio in one step instead of several. If you only divide by a smaller common factor, say 20 : 30 : 50 by 5 to get 4 : 6 : 10, the ratio still isn’t in simplest form, because 4, 6, and 10 share another factor of 2. Finding the GCF first means you divide once and land on the fully simplified ratio, which is exactly what the rocket launch checks for.
Does the game explain how to play?
Yes. The game opens with a short tutorial that introduces the fuel-ratio mechanic before the first scored round — how the percentages map to a ratio and how to enter it on the keypad. From the first round onwards, students play independently. This means Grade 6 students can play without an adult walking them through the rules first.
How long does it take to play?
A full playthrough of all 6 rounds takes about 6 minutes. A single round takes about a minute once a student is comfortable simplifying ratios. There’s no timer and no pressure to finish — the game holds progress in-session and can be restarted anytime.
Is the game free? Will it stay free?
Yes. Artemis Math Mission is free to play now and will remain free. It’s part of Cuemath Playground — a library of games that Cuemath tutors use with paying students, made freely available as part of Cuemath’s mission to make every child MathFit. No signups, no paywalls, no hidden tiers.
Are there ads or distractions in the game?
No. The game has no third-party ads, no pop-ups, no promotional interruptions, no chat, and no user-generated content. A child can play any round from start to finish with nothing on screen except the game itself.
What should my child learn after this?
Once a child can write ratios in simplest form, the natural next steps are unit rates (expressing a ratio with a denominator of 1) and proportions (setting two equivalent ratios equal to solve for an unknown). Both are Grade 6–7 topics covered in other Cuemath Playground games and in the full Grade 6 math curriculum.
How is this different from Math Gym in the Cuemath app?
This game lives on Cuemath's website as part of Cuemath Playground — a free, browser-based library of concept-specific games tied to grade-level curriculum (this one is built around Grade 6 ratio and proportion). Math Gym is a separate section inside the Cuemath app, with daily strategy games, logic puzzles, and mental-math challenges — built around general mathematical fitness rather than a specific topic. Both belong to the MathFit journey, but they serve different purposes: Playground works through curriculum concepts; Math Gym builds daily practice across strategy, logic, and mental math. You don't need the app to play this game.
