Peter, Tara, Keira, and Adam were at dinner.
“How was school today, Adam?” asked Peter.
Uh-huh!
"Keira?"
Grunt!
Further attempts at eliciting any human responses failed! Both were too busy on their phones, which these days, seemed like an appendage to their arms!
In a bid to grab their attention, Peter said they had been invited to the White house for a dinner with the President.
"Hmmm!" Came the response!
That was it!
The situation was totally out of control and it demanded immediate action!
Finally, when he was able to get their attention, Peter asked them if they would like to watch a movie on Friday.
At last, some movement from the Kids’ side of the table! They sat up to listen!
Peter asked them both to list ten movies that the family would watch together every Friday evening. The arrangements for this 'family outing' would have to be made by the two. From comfortable seating arrangements to providing food and drinks, they would have to share their responsibilities. They would also have to curate the movies, keeping in mind the individual taste of each family member.
Keira and Adam put their heads together to finalize the movies. By Thursday evening, they were ready. They decided they would not reveal the title of the movies, but would just give hints. That would be fun! Maybe they could play a round of charades before each movie!
They started with: The Adventures of Tintin: A terrier, a reporter, a secret parchment scroll!
Yay! Animation!
Enola Holmes: A detective, teenagers, and a missing mother!
Papa's favourite genre ticked off their list!
The House With a Clock in Its Walls: Warlocks, witches, and a ticking clock!
Keira and Adam simply loved haunted stories!
Game Night: A Fabergé egg, Burglary and Kidnapping!
Who doesn't love a good comedy?
Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark: Archeology, religious artefacts, Nazis… What an adventure!
Adventure Lovers would be taken to a completely different world!
The Man who knew too much: Mystery, adventure, Kidnapping, music!
A must-watch for all!
Fantastic Beasts-The Crimes of Grindelwald: Wizardry, exotic animals, magic!
Magic is for everyone!
The Escape to Victory: War, Prison camp, Sports?
Oldie Goldie for Mom and Dad!
Jungle Book: Talking animals, adventure, man-cub!
Almost like the Discovery Channel but with a story!
Come Friday, the family gathered in the mini theatre for movie night. Adam set out to mime the clues to Enola Holmes. And no, the parents were not able to crack it. With the title eventually revealed, they sat down to watch the movie.
Peter looked at his family. Indeed, they had functioned as a group. It felt great enjoying a chuckle together!
What a beautiful way of bonding with the family!
Family time is not a matter of convenience. It is a matter of priority!
