Find the odd one out of the four options in the following:
a. (-2, 24)
b. (-3, 10)
c. (-4, 12)
d. (-6, 8)
Solution:
Here the term odd one out means, we have to look for a pattern between the numbers and then find out which option is not matched with the pattern that is followed maximum. Let us use the integers rule of multiplication to find the odd one out.
Here -2 × 24 = -48
-4 × 12 = -48
-6 × 8 = -48
-3 × 10 = -30
From the given options following pairs (-2, 24); (-4, 12); (-6, 8) give the same answer on further simplification. Whereas pair (-3 × 10) = -30, gives a different answer. So, the odd one out of the four options is (-3, 10).
✦ Try This: Find the odd one out of the four options in the following: (-2, 8), (-4, 4), (-4, 3)
The given pairs can be solved by using the integers rules. On solving further using the multiplication rule, the pairs (-2, 8), (-4, 4) give the same answer that is -16 whereas (-4, 3) gives a different answer that is -12. Hence the odd one out pair is (-4, 3)

Find the odd one out of the four options in the following: (-2, 24), (-3, 10), (-4, 12), (-6, 8)
Summary:
On solving the given pairs individually using the multiplication rule of integers, the pairs (-2, 24); (-4, 12); (-6, 8) give the same answer whereas (-3, 10) give the different answer. Hence, the odd one out pair is (-3, 10)
