Big Scoop: The ultimate benefit of buying your child an Ice cream
Feb 24, 212 min read

“Round it goes, where it stops, nobody knows,” said the ice-cream seller, as his device spun. Paul stared at the arrow, hoping that it would point at the knickerbocker glory sundae.

Paul could also see the various ice cream flavors and kids eating their favorite flavors in either cups or cones from the corner of his eye.

"Why is a scoop a semicircle, and why is a cone-shaped the way it is?" he thought to himself.

Your child may have asked you these questions at some point while growing up, and it’s only natural. Everything around us, right from the ice cream we love to the phone or laptop we use, has a defined shape.

Different shapes

Mathematically speaking, the study of shapes and their properties is known as Geometry. Thanks to Geometry, we can determine everything from a distance between the Earth and the Sun right up to why a semi-circular scoop of ice cream fits so perfectly into that ice-cream cone.

I think the universe is pure geometry

Anthony Garret Lisi

Understanding shapes is vital at an early age because your child can then associate a letter or a number with a shape. To get your child better acquainted with shapes, we suggest you cut various shapes out of paper and look for objects that are of the same shape.
