Assume we're given the line segment PQ.
Now, follow these steps
Step 1: Draw a line l and mark point A on it.
Step 2: Using a compass, measure the PQ of a line segment.
Step 3: Now keeping the compass opened the same length.
We keep the pointed end at point A and draw an arc on line l.
So, AB is the required line segment.
