# For the following distribution:

MarksNumber of students

Below 10 3

Below 2012

Below 3027

Below 4057

Below 5075

Below 6080

The modal class is

a. 10-20

b. 20-30

c. 30-40

d. 50-60

**Solution:**

For the following frequency distribution:

Marks | Number of students | Cumulative Frequency |

Below 10 | 3 | 3 |

Below 20 | 12 | 12 - 3 = 9 |

Below 30 | 27 | 27 - 12 = 15 |

Below 40 | 57 | 57 - 27 = 30 |

Below 50 | 75 | 75 - 57 = 18 |

Below 60 | 80 | 80 - 75 = 15 |

From the table, we know that the highest frequency is 30 that lies between the interval 30-40.

Therefore, the modal class is 30-40.
