Five things to check before you pay for any online math tutor.
The right online math tutor starts with what your child needs right now: catching up, mastering the grade, moving ahead, or preparing for a test or competition. A good math tutor for kids knows where a child stands today and what to work on next.

Every live 1:1 class with our online math tutors follows three habits that build critical thinking and independent problem-solving, and keep kids genuinely interested in math.

Not a lecture
The tutor never hands over the answer. They ask questions and have your child explain each step out loud, so the thinking stays theirs. Read more

Not a basic whiteboard
On MathCanvas, our collaborative whiteboard, tutor and child draw, measure and solve together. Built-in tools make every concept easy to explore.

Not a fixed lesson
Instead of repetitive drills, tutors use visuals, simulations and real-world examples until your child truly understands, not memorizes out of fear.

Read moreA 1:1 online math tutor at Cuemath starts at $15 per class. The price depends on your child’s grade and plan length, and longer plans cost less per class. Every plan includes a dedicated tutor, a personalized learning plan, homework help and progress reports. See all plans on our pricing page.
Start with what your child needs: catching up, keeping pace, getting ahead, or preparing for a test. Then look for live 1:1 classes, a tutor who knows your child’s school curriculum, and a way to see progress. Cuemath does the search for you. Less than 1% of tutor applicants are selected, and we match your child with a tutor based on grade, goals and learning style.
Cuemath’s fee covers live 1:1 classes with a tutor matched to your child’s grade and learning goals, plus everything around them: a learning plan aligned to your child’s school curriculum, homework help, practice worksheets, progress reports, and prep for state tests, the SAT, AMC 8 and Math Kangaroo. There are no separate add-ons. The same tutor teaches every session. You can pause, reschedule classes or get a refund for unused classes.
Free tutoring works well for quick questions, but you usually get a different tutor each time and no one tracks your child’s progress. Paid 1:1 tutoring gives your child a dedicated tutor and a plan, so gaps close faster. At Cuemath, your child learns with the same tutor every session, so the tutor understands how your child learns and keeps them on a plan aligned to their school curriculum.
With online tutoring, the best tutor doesn’t have to live near you. Check how tutors are selected and trained, and whether you can watch sessions and get updates. At Cuemath, less than 1% of applicants become tutors, each one is certified for the grade group they teach, and parents can observe sessions and get progress reports.
Yes, when it’s live and one-on-one. The format matters more than the room. Cuemath sessions run on Leap, our own interactive platform with MathCanvas and built-in math tools, so the tutor sees every step your child works through in real time. You get the personal attention of a private tutor with the convenience of learning from home.
Your child meets a tutor live, one-on-one, on a video platform where both can work through problems together. At Cuemath, it starts with a free MathFit Evaluation. We then match your child with a tutor for their grade, and the same tutor teaches every class from a learning plan aligned to their school curriculum. You follow progress in the parent app.
Less than 1% of applicants become Cuemath tutors. Each tutor applies for the grade segment they want to teach (K-2, 3-5, 6-8 or 9-12) and takes a math test for those grades. Out of every 100, about 50 pass, 20 pass an assessment of their teaching skills, 5 complete training in the Cuemath way, and 1 passes an evaluation in a live class. That tutor is then certified to teach that grade segment, and gets ongoing training and monthly reviews after hiring.
