# Find the HCF of 96 and 404 by the prime factorisation method. Hence, find their LCM

**Solution:**

We will use the prime factorisation method to find the HCF of 96 and 404. We will use the formula LCM(x, y) HCF(x, y) = x × y

⇒ 96 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 404 = 2 × 2 × 101

Thus, the HCF (96, 404) is 2 × 2 = 4.

As we know that the product of any two integers is equal to the product of their HCF and LCM.

HCF × LCM = Product of the two numbers

4 × LCM = 96 × 404

LCM = 38,784 / 4

LCM = 9696
