# In a stack there are 5 books each of thickness 20 mm and 5 paper sheets each of thickness 0.016 mm. What is the total thickness of the stack

**Solution:**

Given:

5 books of 20 mm thickness each.

5 paper sheets of 0.016 mm thickness each.

The thickness of each book = 20 mm

Number of books per stack = 5

Thus, Thickness of 5 books = 5 × 20 = 10 mm

The thickness of each sheet = 0.016 mm

Therefore, the thickness of 5 paper sheets = 5 × 0.016 = 0.080 mm

Hence, the total thickness of the stack = 100 + 0.080 = 100.080 mm

or 100.080 = 1.0008 × 10^{2 }mm
