If tan x° = z/10 and cos x° = 10/y, what is the value of sin x°?
Solution:
The problem can be pictorially represented as:
The trigonometric ratios which are used to solve the above problem are :
tanθ° = sinθ°/cosθ° --- (1)
Using equation (1) we can state
tanx° = sinx°/cos x° = z/10 --- (2)
Given cosx° = 10/y and substituting the value of cosx° in equation (2) we have
⇒ sinx°/10/y = z/10
⇒ sinx° = z/10 × 10/y = z/y
If tanx° = z/10 and cosx° = 10/y, what is the value of sinx°?
Summary:
If tanx° = z/10 and cosx° = 10/y, then the value of sin x° is z/y.
