The number of teeth and the age of a person vary
(a) directly with each other
(b) inversely with each other
(c) neither directly nor inversely with each other
(d) sometimes directly and sometimes inversely with each other
Solution:
When a person is born he or she has no teeth. By the time the child is three years it has 20 teeth. The primary teeth again starts falling between the age of 6 and 7 and permanent teeth start appearing.Typically by age of 21 a person has 32 teeth. These teeth may again start falling or shedding in the old age depending on the ageing process.
Therefore the number of teeth and the age of a person sometimes directly and sometimes inversely vary with each other.
✦ Try This: Assuming temperature to be constant Pressure and Volume will vary ary (a) directly with each other, (b) inversely with each other, (c) neither directly nor inversely with each other, (d) sometimes directly and sometimes inversely with each other.
If temperature is kept constant then Pressure will vary inversely with volume. The more the volume the less the pressure. Less the volume, more the pressure.
P ∝ 1/V
PV = k
