James arranges 12 pens in one packet and there are a total of 8 packets.
Hence, he has 12 × 8 = 96 pens in all.
This indicates that he arranging them in multiples of 12.

Example 2 On her birthday, Margot wants to give 12 chocolates to each student of her class. If there are 20 students in her class, how many chocolates should she distribute?
