Example 1 Serena is having a list of numbers: 12, 8, 36, 15, 24, 14, 18. Can you help her to find out the numbers that are multiples of 2 and 3 both?
Solution
We know that all even numbers are multiples of 2 and the sum of digits of a number is divisible by 3 are the multiples of 3.Therefore, 12, 36, 18, and 24 are the multiples of 2 and 3 both.

Example 2 Find the number which fits all these statements:
It is even.
It is a multiple of 2 and 7
It lies between 40 and 50
Solution
Multiples of 2 between 40 and 50 are 42, 44, 46, 48. Multiples of 7 between 40 and 50 are 42 and 49.The common even multiple of 2 and 7 is 42. Hence, the even multiple of 2 and 7 that lies between 40 and 50 is 42.

Example 3 If John receives $2 every day as pocket money then how many dollars does he receive in 2 weeks?
Solution
Pocket money received by John each day = $2
Now, 2 weeks = 14 days
Therefore, pocket money received by John in 14 days = 14 × 2 = $ 28.
